Descended: Fallen Guardian Saga Book #1 re-release

Announcing a wonderful amazing accomplishment, if you will (for me, anyway): I finished editing Debra Ann Miller's first book, Descended (Fallen Guardian Saga Book #1) the other day and am pretty proud of the work.

Descended is a terrific book, with all the conflict you'd expect when good goes up against evil. One of the things I liked most about it?  Ms. Miller has written a novel that isn't overflowing with gore, sex, or foul language. She's kept it simple and very readable for YA readers, teens, and adults who happen to want a "clean" book that's actually interesting.

I feel pretty confident that the book is now going to get a fair review -- the editing process was a lot of fun for me, working with Deb was great, and we both feel Descended is going to be seen in its best light.

I've already begun working on the re-edit of Ascended, Book #2 of the series, and will be sure to let you all know when it's good to go!

A New Venture in an Old Calling

After years of wondering why I can spot errors in other people's writing that professional editors have missed, I'm trying my hand at the editing business. What could be better than telling someone he's wrong and having him pay me for it, right?

Don't get me wrong: I don't have a sadistic streak, nor do I get a thrill out of lording it over people that I just may be grammatically smarter than they are. Good grammar, correct spelling, and most things related to the written word are just things that come naturally to me. If I've proofread a document of any type, it makes me feel good to know someone's work will be taken seriously because it's as error-free as possible.

I'm a little nervous about starting something new. After all, what if I put my work out there and someone says it's not very good? What if my blog entries have typos? (Good grief, the irony . . .)

None of those doubts matter. I'm doing it and I'm going to work hard to be good at it. My first job is already underway, in fact, with a newer author who was willing to take a chance on me.  I'll post a link to her book when it's finished, and will hope for a distinct lack of criticism.  :)
